Sensitized erythrocytes carrying the first and fourthcomponents of complement(EACT) were prepared by incubating optimallysensitized sheep erythrocyteswith normal serum appropriatelydiluted in Mg2-free diethylbarbituratebutter containingCa2. EACT cellsso preparedwere foundto be suitable for use in estimating the second component of complement (C2) in human serum, and the method is described here.
